Business Responds to AIDS

About Business Responds to AIDS (BRTA)

Local businesses are invited to participate in Business Responds to AIDS, a partnership between WellFlorida Council’s High Impact Prevention project and businesses interested in ending HIV/AIDS. Participating businesses provide prevention messages and materials to customers, employees and neighborhoods, and can also serve as a free HIV testing site. The program helps to raise community awareness about HIV/AIDS, motivate residents in high prevalence neighborhoods to get tested, increase the number of persons who know their HIV status and link them to services. It’s free and easy to participate, and HIP will help you get started.

Business Responds to AIDS Partner Appreciation

This month, GRACE Marketplace is our highlighted Business Responds to AIDS partner! GRACE is a one-stop homeless resource center serving Gainesville and Alachua County. They provide helpful and effective services for anyone experiencing or at risk of homelessness. These services include safe emergency shelter, permanent housing, showers, hot meals, storage, case management, job training, and providing space to our partners to provide health care and other services. By taking care of basic necessities day to day, GRACE empowers individuals to reclaim control over their lives and recover from unfortunate circumstances. GRACE is also dedicated to the mission of ending the HIV epidemic. Thus they have collaborated with WellFlorida to provide the following at their agency:

  • For 2021World AIDS Day, they hosted our Health Fair event which featured HIV/STD Testing, free haircuts and other health services
  • GRACE is our biggest contributor of preventative materials year-round
  • They also allow the HIP Team to offer free HIV Testing and counseling on the third Tuesday of every month to their residents.

A big thank you from HIP to GRACE Marketplace for being a committed BRTA partner!
