Special Notice
Due to heightened concern regarding the spread of COVID-19, the HIP team is providing safer sex material deliveries to our Business Responds to AIDS (BRTA) partners through a contactless delivery. If you are a BRTA partner and are in need of additional materials, please contact us at (352)415-0464.
About Business Responds to AIDS (BRTA)
Local businesses are invited to participate in Business Responds to AIDS, a partnership between WellFlorida Council’s High Impact Prevention project and businesses interested in ending HIV/AIDS. Participating businesses provide prevention messages and materials to customers, employees and neighborhoods, and can also serve as a free HIV testing site. The program helps to raise community awareness about HIV/AIDS, motivate residents in high prevalence neighborhoods to get tested, increase the number of persons who know their HIV status and link them to services. It’s free and easy to participate, and HIP will help you get started.

Business Responds to AIDS Partner Appreciation
This week, Peaceful Paths is our highlighted Business Responds to AIDS partner! Peaceful Paths is the certified domestic violence center that serves survivors of domestic violence in Alachua, Bradford, and Union counties. They provide an emergency shelter, 24-hour helpline, victim advocacy, children’s programming, education and training, crisis counseling and support groups, community awareness and intervention, and violence prevention programs. Their outreach coordinator says, “Peaceful Paths recognizes the importance of HIV testing and education in community organizations. Thus we have collaborated with WellFlorida to provide the following in our agency:
- For 2019 World AIDS Day, we hosted WellFlorida as an HIV testing site for clients and staff
- We contribute to accessibility of preventative materials year-round (varied condoms in our bathrooms and pantry areas)
- We cover topics of sexual health in adult support group”
A big thank you from HIP to Peaceful Paths for being a committed BRTA partner!
